About Us

About Hughes Elite Scholars

Welcome to Hughes Elite Scholars, where our mission is to empower futures through education. Established on the principle that every student deserves the opportunity to achieve academic success, we are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support programs for high school students with the ambition, determination, and potential to pursue higher education.

Our Vision

At Hughes Elite Scholars, we envision a world where access to education is not determined by socioeconomic status or background. We believe in the transformative power of education to break down barriers and empower individuals to reach their full potential, both economically and socially.

Our Mission

Our mission is to level the playing field by offering year-round assistance to low-income and first-generation high school students, guiding them on their journey to college and beyond. Through our flagship programs, Upward Bound and Pathways to Success, we provide the tools, resources, and support necessary for students to thrive academically, economically, and socially in society.

Our Programs

Upward Bound

The Upward Bound program is designed to support high school students from low-income families and or those who will be the first generation in their family to attend college. Through personalized mentoring, academic support, and college readiness workshops, Upward Bound equips students with the skills and confidence they need to successfully navigate the college application process and excel in higher education.

Pathways to Success

Pathways to Success offers a range of after-school programs aimed at providing vital mentoring and support to students as they pursue their academic goals. From SAT and ACT preparation to assistance with college applications and financial aid, Pathways to Success ensures that students have the resources and guidance necessary to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.

Our Scholarships

In our commitment to reducing financial barriers to education, Hughes Elite Scholars proudly offers the Education Over Debt 2024 Scholarships. These scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, are available to eligible applicants, including African American students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), individuals enrolled in Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs), and undocumented students pursuing higher education.
